The first setting started with a spring table runner repurposed for winter, a feather tree perched on a cake stand, and a handful of white accents—ceramic pears, candle holders, and vases filled with green yard clippings. Small green bowls topped with white snowflake ornaments (picked up inexpensively last year) finish the look and could double as take-home favors for guests.

The sixth setup could easily transition into a New Year’s celebration: lots of sparkle from the feather tree, mercury-look candle holders, and an abundance of ornaments, including a special one for each guest to take home. To show another simple holiday trick, we replaced the bench with two dining chairs and hung stockings from the chair backs using ornament hooks. Tuck in small favors such as warm socks or candy canes to surprise your guests.
Finally, a relaxed holiday gathering doesn’t require a formal table at all. Create a small buffet of sparkling water, punch, pistachios, cookies, and crackers for easy mingling. We like to add a few ornaments and white ceramic pears on a cake stand to bring a bit of sparkle to the spread without fuss.
