A lot of you have been asking what I picked up from Target for Nate’s big weekend debut. I’m a devoted fan (remember that almost-touching-moment?) and was determined to be first in line. Even though we’d just returned from a trip the night before, I was up early Sunday and at Target the moment they opened. I was excited and hopeful—only to find empty shelves. When I asked staff where the Nate items were, I got blank looks. It felt like a scene from a shopping frenzy I’d imagined, so I bolted back to the car and told John, “To another Target!”
At the second store we found nothing either. It wasn’t a sellout; nothing had been stocked. I started to worry the collection might be limited to certain cities. We had a family event across town, so my hunt paused until we were heading home and passed a third Target. There, an unlabeled end-cap displayed a few towels bearing Nate’s name, but still nothing I wanted. I resigned myself to the possibility that the collection hadn’t reached Richmond yet or was delayed. Then John surprised me by turning into yet another Target—apparently there are quite a few in our city—just to check.
When I walked in that time, the display I’d been hoping for was finally there. I felt a burst of relief and pure joy—like a little chorus of stylish accessory angels had started singing. I quickly grabbed the two pieces I had my eye on before anyone else could claim them, then snapped a photo to share. I remember standing there protectively with my finds, half-expecting a crowd to rush in and nab the rest.
I’d been admiring the white tortoiseshell piece since seeing a preview of the collection. Its glossy finish and sophisticated pattern appealed to me instantly. The small spiky urchin accessory had a quirky, porcupine-like charm that felt playful and unexpected, so I couldn’t resist that either. Walking back to the car holding both items, I was grinning so widely that John, who’d waited with Clara, laughed at me. I was genuinely delighted.
Within a day, my friend Katie posted her own finds, and we both discovered we’d picked up some of the same pieces without coordinating. It felt like a little confirmation of our shared taste. I called her as soon as I saw her photo and we had a good laugh about it.
At home, I considered where to display the new items. One corner of the room had felt visually heavy on the left side, so I decided to hang the white tortoiseshell piece there to help balance the arrangement. Its glossy ceramic-like surface added a sculptural touch that felt just right for that wall. The tortoiseshell looks lovely against the stenciled backdrop and adds a refined, modern accent to the space.
The spiky urchin found a spot on my small fall mantel. I already had a bronze spiky orb on the opposite side, so the new urchin complements that piece and creates a cohesive, textural pair. The contrast between the glossy tortoiseshell and the matte bronze orb gives the mantel a layered, curated look.
All in all, the quick morning hunt paid off and left me very pleased with the pieces I brought home. They felt like the perfect little accents to refresh the room without overwhelming it. I’m curious how other shoppers did that weekend: did you find the items you wanted? Was it easy to locate the collection in your area, or did you have to check multiple stores like I did? Did anyone pick up bedding, towels, or the bold-colored chains from the collection? I admired the yellow chain in particular; I passed on it because I wasn’t sure where I’d use it, but I can see it being a fun DIY project—perhaps an old heavy chain spray-painted in a bright hue would mimic the look nicely.
