The paneling project is taking a little longer than we thought, so no big update just yet. In the meantime, we wanted to share a recent office visit that inspired us. Every now and then a shop or workspace is so well styled that we can’t help but take a closer look—kind of like the time we popped into a charming kids’ consignment store. This time we visited the office of Towne & Reese, a jewelry company named after the founders’ children. We first met them during a past house-crashing adventure, so it felt natural to swing by and see how they transformed a blank office into something special.
The couple behind the brand, Christi and Barret, welcomed us with their daughter Towne when we previously visited. Christi is half of the Towne & Reese team and clearly has a strong design sensibility. When we walked into the office it was immediately obvious she’d taken a plain space and infused it with color, texture, and clever, budget-conscious choices.
The entry reveals a bright blue accent wall painted in Valspar’s Tropical Oasis, centered with the company logo. That vibrant blue was pulled directly from an Anthropologie rug that served as the inspiration for the entire office palette. The rug’s colors dictated not just the main wall hue, but also a secondary accent color used elsewhere in the space. A leather pouf and a neat side table from a local shop called Post & Gray add warmth and a touch of mix-and-match style.
Alongside the logo wall, a second teal wall—painted the same Tropical Oasis—displays the jewelry collection. Christi mounted a variety of linen canvases in different shapes and sizes to show off necklaces and pieces. The canvases act like framed displays and lend a light, airy feel that complements the metal hardware of the jewelry. Interspersed among the canvases is a large vintage mirror acquired at Post & Gray. The mirror’s scale and texture make it a bold focal point while providing a functional spot for customers to try on items.
Christi sourced the linen canvases affordably from a local supplier, signing up as a “preferred customer” to take advantage of regular canvas deals. It’s a good example of how thoughtful buying—prioritizing a few statement items while finding low-cost, well-made basics—can keep a budget intact without skimping on style.
Beyond the canvas wall, a secondary zone offers a splash of raspberry called Panama Rose by Olympic. That punchy color appears behind an old meeting table that was a secondhand find from another local shop, The Sleepy Poet. Simple Ikea rugs and an industrial-style metal table create a casual, comfortable meeting area. The metal chairs—ordered online at a reasonable price—pair easily with the darker black stools found on a nearby shelf.
One wall has been painted with Valspar’s chalkboard paint from Lowe’s, which delivered a deep, rich matte finish without the cloudiness that can sometimes appear with other brands. The chalkboard hosts playful doodles and notes from the Towne & Reese team and their friends, creating a lighthearted, kid-friendly corner complete with a small Ikea table and colorful poufs from Urban Outfitters.
Christi’s mix is masterful: elegant industrial seating and stools, secondhand statement pieces like the mirror and buffet, and inexpensive yet on-trend finds from big-box stores. Bold color choices—teal and raspberry—tie the look together, while personal touches such as a grid of family and jewelry photos, the chalkboard, and the linen canvas displays make the space feel curated and welcoming.
One charming, boutique-ready detail: a plate of dry beans used as a playful prop for displaying rings. It’s the kind of simple, inexpensive idea that feels fresh and memorable. The result is an office that looks store-ready and inviting, but still feels like a comfortable place to work.
