Architecture varies from modern condominiums to charming bungalows, and many people get around by golf cart rather than a car. Although there’s an inn and vacation rentals, Serenbe felt more residential than touristy when we visited; a local estimated about 70% of homes are occupied year-round. That made our spring break stay pleasantly calm, a nice contrast to busier vacation spots.
Accommodations include the Inn at Serenbe and a selection of short-term rentals and Airbnb listings; if you want to be inside the community, double-check the location when booking. Staying on site makes it easier to access trails, shops, and the hamlets by foot or golf cart.
Where To Stay In Serenbe?
Options are limited but charming: the on-site inn provides a classic place to stay, while vacation rentals and private listings offer more residential, home-like settings. We were fortunate to stay in a condo owned by friends who split time between Atlanta and Serenbe; it gave us a real sense of living in the community. If you prefer convenience, choose a property within Serenbe proper so you can walk or golf-cart between restaurants and trails.
If you prefer to be more remote, look for farmette-style rentals with larger grounds and more privacy.
What To Do In Serenbe
We spent three relaxed days enjoying outdoor activities, simple pleasures, and family time. Highlights were low-key, nature-focused, and ideal for kids who loved exploring nearby creeks and trails.
Get Outside
The trails, creeks, playgrounds, and open fields give plenty of reasons to spend time outdoors. Our kids, ages 10 and 14, spent hours at a nearby stream—building with clay, balancing on logs, skipping stones and letting their imaginations run. Small, intentionally simple playgrounds are scattered around the hamlets; their retro feel—basic swings, slides and natural play structures—was unexpectedly charming. A couple of in-ground trampolines, including one with a hilltop view called Sunset Point, were big hits.
The simplicity of these outdoor amenities is part of their appeal—kids naturally gravitate to them and often explore multiple spots around town.
Ride Horses
With stables and pastures nearby, we treated the family to a one-hour guided trail ride. It was suitable for beginners, offered scenic views, and even converted a nervous first-timer into a fan. The ride followed trails with varied terrain and memorable sights like waterfalls and distinctive homes.
Relax at the Spa
The Spa at Serenbe offers treatments, saunas, and quiet spaces for relaxation. A reiki session and time in the infrared sauna were a favorite part of our trip for two family members, combining pampering with a restful atmosphere.
Rent Bikes or a Golf Cart
You can get around Serenbe easily without a car. Golf carts are popular and make it fun to explore the hamlets. Bikes are a good option too, though the rolling terrain can be a workout.
See Nearby Waterfalls
A short drive from Serenbe takes you to hiking areas with scenic falls and streams. One nearby park offers a 2-mile hike with multiple cascades and a memorable waterfall near the trailhead—worth the easy trip if you enjoy short hikes and natural scenery.
Shop the Local Stores
Shopping in Serenbe is small-scale and curated: gift shops, a beloved local bookshop, and a few boutique home stores. They make for pleasant stops during walks through the hamlets and often carry unique, locally minded items.
Where To Eat in Serenbe
Dining options are limited but thoughtful, with an emphasis on local ingredients. We enjoyed every meal, from casual bakery fare to a relaxed dinner spot that felt ideal for a date night.
Blue Eyed Daisy
A casual bakery and café that serves breakfast, lunch, and selected dinners. We enjoyed a memorable burger during a weekly burger night and stopped in several times for coffee and pastries.
Halsa
A Swedish-inspired restaurant with a vegetable-forward menu and a clean, relaxed vibe. We liked it enough to return for multiple meals.
The Hill
A slightly more elevated but still approachable dinner option. The menu highlights local produce and offers a cozy setting for an evening out.
Nigel’s Fancy Bananas
A fun frozen-banana and gelato shop that’s a family favorite for a sweet treat. Creative toppings and playful flavors make it an easy win with kids and adults alike.

Serenbe delivered on its promise of a slower, nature-first experience. It’s a great option for families who want to unplug, explore trails, play in creeks, ride horses, and enjoy locally minded food. Our kids loved the simple outdoor play, and the mix of hamlet life and open spaces made the trip feel both cozy and adventurous. We left wanting to return—next time perhaps for goat yoga or another slow weekend in the country.
