We promised more window-shopping posts, so while we’re packing for our November book tour we decided to keep the series alive by browsing some favorite shops. Before we even left town, Target surprised us with a lot of fresh, exciting pieces, so we wandered the aisles and snapped photos to share. The first thing that stopped me was a collection of green glass vases. They have a rustic, slightly industrial look with embossed lettering that feels both vintage and modern. With the holidays on the horizon, these vases would make elegant mantel or tabletop accents—the kind of piece that mixes nicely with seasonal greens and warm metallics.
Target has definitely leaned into gilded touches this season. Shelves were dotted with gold mirrors, vases, cups, and trays that read both luxe and approachable. Metallic accents like these are great for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s decor, and they can instantly elevate a simple vignette.
I also stumbled on a playful picture frame that made me laugh — it begged for a silly photo to fill the space. Little novelty frames like that are perfect for desks, entryway tables, or kid-friendly gallery walls.
One of the standout finds was a $24.99 pillow from an end-cap collection. The blend of wood-grain print with metallic gold felt high-end and a touch “magazine-worthy.” I could imagine a group of these as a focal point on a charcoal velvet sofa: modern and a little glam.
Lamps were abundant in the gold trend as well. A sculptural pair priced around $44 caught my eye for their three-dimensional shapes and presence. They’d add character to a console or side table and are easy to update with a spray paint if you prefer a different color for a nursery or accent corner.
There were several lamps I loved but didn’t buy — mostly because I don’t have a dedicated spot for them right now. I photographed them so someone else could discover the same ones and take them home to enjoy.
I also found a ceramic dog figurine that looked custom-made for anyone with a soft spot for quirky accents. It was inspiring enough to prompt a double-take, though unfortunately it was sold out at that particular location.
Another end-cap featured a cohesive collection of home goods. We actually picked something up from this range on an earlier visit: a playful United States-shaped cutting board John claimed immediately. We don’t plan to use it as a board — it’s more of a decorative piece for a future project we’ll share when it’s finished.
A $49 full/queen duvet displayed a breezy pattern that felt summery but versatile. Paired with white fur pillows and a darker throw at the foot, it could transition into a cozy fall or winter bedroom scheme.
One unexpected favorite was a chunky knitted pot holder. It’s a small thing, but charming enough to make a thoughtful hostess gift when bundled with a jar of jam or a favorite kitchen treat.
Another bedding display showcased moody, graphic designs with stripey sheets that were especially appealing — a modern approach that still feels warm and livable.
Clearance finds included $5 woven baskets that would work well in a mudroom, pantry, or bathroom closet. They’re practical and attractive, helpful for corralling small items while keeping shelves tidy.
A cute notebook featuring arrow motifs felt fresh — a potential alternative to chevron for anyone looking for a trend-forward yet simple pattern.
Rugs were one of the most exciting categories. For roughly $129, several larger rugs offered modern, Aztec-inspired patterns and also a range of nubby neutrals in tans, grays, and deep charcoals that resembled higher-end textures. In the right space, these could be a defining element.
On the whimsical side, there was a Halloween character kit that made me laugh: a “vampiress” costume set complete with a tiny hat and choker. It’s the kind of novelty item that makes seasonal dressing lighthearted and fun.
Finally, Method soaps with Orla Kiely packaging stood out as cute, affordable gift options or stocking stuffers. Small, well-designed items like that are perfect for simple holiday exchanges or hostess gifts.
