This might be my favorite giveaway name yet. It sounds like a band or a Pixar movie, but it simply sums up the two prize choices this week: RHINO or ROCKET. Cardboard Safari, the maker behind these clever designs, creates whimsical animal trophies and imaginative objects from interlocking, laser-cut cardboard pieces. If you’ve ever wanted a dramatic moose head on your wall without harming an animal or committing to heavy materials, their lightweight, eco-friendly versions make the same visual impact with far less guilt.
Cardboard Safari uses recycled, non-toxic, locally produced cardboard. They’re based in Charlottesville, VA, and their distinctive creations have been popping up around town—some of the designs even involve local collaborators. This week we’re giving away two of Cardboard Safari’s newer items as they expand beyond their signature skull and mounted-animal pieces. Each winner will choose either a Full-Body Rhino or an Astro Rocket. Both pieces are available in three sizes and in either brown or white cardboard. They arrive flat-packed and assemble like a straightforward puzzle, making them fun to build and easy to display. If you prefer a different look, the plain cardboard surfaces take paint well, so you could customize a rhino in any color you like.
