Tiffany made our Labor Day weekend by sending beautiful after photos of her family room makeover, inspired by the globe-trotting moodboard we created for her a few months ago. Before we reveal the full transformation, here’s a quick look at the room before the redesign:
Tiffany reached out wanting a cohesive family room that felt worldly and collected but still modern. She asked us to work with her existing sofa, chairs, and TV setup and create a global-inspired moodboard that would give the space character without overwhelming its functional layout. The resulting plan blended layered textures, a neutral base, and curated accents to create a lived-in, well-traveled vibe.
Tiffany followed the design plan closely and executed the makeover beautifully. The photos she sent show how thoughtful choices—like a brighter table, a textured rug, and tailored curtains—can completely change the feel of a family room. Here’s the stunning after:
One small but powerful change was the white table. At first Tiffany thought it might be an odd choice, but once in place it lightened the room and helped reflect the layered textures and warm accents around it. The rug anchors the seating area, adding pattern and depth, while the curtains introduce softness and scale—tying the whole global-inspired look together.
Her note after completing the room said it better than we could:
“I can’t decide which piece is my favorite, I just love it all. I thought the white table was a weird idea, but now that it’s here, it does exactly as you promised. The room feels lighter because of it. The rug is amazing and has really pulled the room together. The curtains, I don’t even know what to say there—perfection. The room has so many layers and so much texture now, which is just what I wanted. If I want to change things up, I can switch out pillows or a few accessories for a different pop of color. I love sitting in this room now and can’t wait to have a get-together soon. I’d reworked this room several times over the years, and now I finally feel done. I’ll be needing another moodboard soon—I just can’t decide which room to choose next. Thanks so much to you both.
