What’s New
- We used a couple of reliable yard tools to give our front landscaping a tidy trim: a pair of clippers and branch cutters that we originally bought at our first house and have used for more than nine years. For precise, detailed trimming we also rely on a pair of small pruning shears. These simple tools make quick work of overgrown hedges and keep the yard looking neat with minimal effort.
Hey Nate Berkus, We Tried It
- We tried Nate Berkus’s label-free shower bottle idea by peeling labels off our shampoo and conditioner containers to create a cleaner, more uniform look in the shower. The result looks good against our blue tile—clean and minimal—and earned a solid B+ in our book. One tube on the top shelf is a printed bottle that doesn’t have a removable label; that product happens to be Sherry’s favorite face scrub. While the bottle update is a simple cosmetic change, it helped the space feel a little more cohesive until we can fully renovate the bathroom.

- Her show, Dinner at Tiffani’s, has run on the Cooking Channel and sometimes appears on Food Network. The show highlights approachable cooking for friends and family, and Tiffani shares tips for hosting intimate dinners and making recipes look effortless.
- Tiffani’s home and individual rooms like her living room and nursery have been featured in several shelter publications and on her blog. During the episode we referenced a lighthearted Jimmy Fallon clip that’s worth watching for a laugh.
- As part of our Saved By The Bell–themed paint quiz for Tiffani, we sampled several playful color options: a bright Kelly Green; Behr’s Bell Tower; Sherwin-Williams Lark Green (a nod to Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle); Behr’s Time Out; and Valspar’s Olive to the Max (a cheeky reference to The Max, the hangout from the show). We also noted that there are two different “Bayside” shades: one from Valspar that reads more teal, and one from Behr that leans toward a steel blue. Choosing a paint color is subjective, and seeing swatches in your own light is the best way to decide.
We’re Digging
- Sherry popped into Target for a little solo shopping time and sniff-tested a few candles until she found two favorites: a marble-scented candle and a pineapple-scented candle. Both were winners for casual evenings at home. She also picked up a small jewelry cleaner that’s handy for keeping everyday pieces bright without a trip to the jeweler.
- In the garage we installed an Easy Light fixture to improve overall brightness and make the space more usable for projects. If you prefer a switch with a pull chain, there are versions that offer that convenience as well. Good lighting in workspaces like a garage makes a big difference in usability and safety.
