Herman and Eduardo, the apartment’s owners, have made every square inch count. At just 500 square feet, their home includes a compact kitchen, dining area, living area, bedroom, and bathroom, yet it reads as luxe, comfortable, and completely livable. It’s a terrific example of simple living and smart space planning, much of which the owners accomplished themselves, from demolition and layout planning to sewing pillows and curtains.

The kitchen sits on a slightly raised platform to gently define the zone. A peninsula with generous storage increases counter space and subtly separates the kitchen from the living and dining areas.
