Moving those enormous, incredibly heavy slabs into the kitchen was a tense, careful process. The installers handled each piece with steady focus, but I’ll admit I braced for damage—scratched floors, dented cabinets, or dented appliances seemed like real possibilities. At one point I walked by and found the stove parked awkwardly in the doorway, which only added to the sense that the kitchen might have to be disassembled and reassembled just to get the counters into place.
Yet, after three intense hours during which every move required planning and coordination, the counters were set perfectly.
