We were surprised to realize it’s been almost two years since our last video house tour. Even more surprising was how much has changed in our home during that time.
At first it felt like we hadn’t done much in Richmond because we’ve been focused on the beach house and duplex renovations. But watching the older 2016 videos made it clear that a lot has happened: our son’s nursery became a big boy bedroom, our daughter’s room received a makeover, and Sherry has been on a well-documented minimizing spree. Our bedroom and living room have changed too, so clearly we haven’t ignored this house as much as we thought.
The most dramatic change right now is happening on the exterior. We’re in the middle of a major update—more on that in a full post when the work is complete. For now you can follow progress on Instagram Stories, or explore the interior tours below that show our entire first and second floors. We skipped the third story because it’s an unfinished attic and not very photogenic.
Let’s start downstairs. Our usual filming method was in play: I walked with the camera while Sherry narrated. The footage was a bit shaky, so I applied a stabilizing filter afterward; it smoothed things out though a couple of frames look slightly off. Even so, the video gives a faithful sense of moving through the space. Note: when we recorded, the dining table was piled with items for the duplex project, so it looks a little busy in that shot.

The upstairs tour runs a bit longer because there are more rooms and several spaces still waiting on finishing touches. We filmed the upstairs before Sherry shared her closet video tour, which is why the mirror isn’t hung in these clips, and it was also before we added a treadmill to the bonus room.

Right now Sherry is full of excitement—she’s been outside sketching plans for replacing the portico we recently removed—so we wanted to share an update while everything is buzzing.
