Did you catch the candy conversation heart reference in the title? Those little hearts always make me smile—especially the modern ones that read “Text Me” or “Tweet Me.” This post is mainly a simple wish for a Happy Valentine’s Day and an excuse to share some adorable photos of Clara. These are the same pictures we mailed to family and friends along with a goofy V-day card featuring a Burger-esque chihuahua on the front (got to represent both kids, after all). Consider this your digital card—imagine these slipped into your mailbox:
I can’t get over that $1 stuffed candy heart from Target’s dollar spot. It made the perfect Valentine’s prop for a baby who loves to suck on her fingers when she’s idle. To get these shots, there was plenty of high-pitched singing and energetic dancing by Mom and Dad—no shame in that. When three sets of eager grandparents are waiting for a card, you do whatever it takes to capture that perfect smile.
Since we were already in photoshoot mode, we also dressed Clara in some heart-print fabric for her weekly photo. John even did a little Photoshop touch-up on the week number (we usually show it inside a circle). Ok, enough baby photos talk. I know I can be like that proud parent at the mall who shoves a wallet insert filled with kids’ pictures at anyone who will look. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with a spouse, partner, pet, neighbor, friend, family, favorite magazine, or even hosting an anti-Valentine’s party, we hope you have a memorable day. In the spirit of balance—one of the resolutions we set for the year—we decided to take it easy today and simply enjoy each other’s company. We’re celebrating V-day as a family of four (chihuahua included), which feels perfect, especially since today also marks Clara’s nine-month milestone. It’s wild to think she’s now been out in the world longer than she was in my belly. The pregnancy felt long at times, but once she arrived, the months have flown by.
We’re not disappearing, though. This blog is a big part of our lives, so we’ll still be popping in this afternoon with a love-themed giveaway. Tomorrow we’ll return to our normal schedule, and we might even have some dining table photos to share—fingers crossed. Until then, big wet kisses from the whole Petersik clan.
