Now that we’ve settled into a new URL, many of you have been asking about the features and projects we teased. There’s a lot in the works here at Young House Love, so below is a snapshot of what we’re excited to share in the coming weeks and months.
#1. A Young House Love Nursery: Since so many readers hoped our “big announcement” would involve a baby, we decided to take on a nursery makeover—even though it’s not in our own house. My sister Emily (you can see her home in an earlier post) is due in October and invited us to transform an empty bedroom into a cozy, functional nursery for her little one. The space already has some fantastic architectural features, including a sliding track door that divides one side of the room from the rest of the house and a standard doorway on the other side. The dramatic before photos make us giddy to get started, and we can’t wait to share the full makeover process and reveal.
#2. Videos, Baby: We’ve ordered video equipment to make it quick and easy to capture projects, tutorials, and the little moments that don’t always come across in a photo-based post. Expect how-to clips, project walkthroughs, and a few candid bits. We also have a brief TV appearance scheduled, which will be fun—and maybe a little embarrassing—but a great way to try new content formats for you.
#3. Our House’s History: Many of you have asked whether we’ve ever heard from our home’s original owners. Recently we did—after they discovered the blog through a friend—and they shared stories and memories from the nearly forty-five years they lived in the house. Those conversations led to unexpected discoveries about the home’s past that we’re excited to document and share. We’ll post the stories and the artifacts we uncovered, including some nostalgic finds from renovations we’ve already done, like drawings and notes tucked beneath old kitchen cabinets.
#4. The Usual Suspects: You’ll still see the regular mix of content you enjoy: Reader Redesigns, Burning Questions, House Crashing adventures, Design Dilemmas, before-and-after projects, DIY tutorials, follow-ups on recent updates (for example, how we like a new bed a month later or how an edible garden is progressing), Fab Freebies, and practical guides (hanging art, painting paneling, and more). We’ll keep publishing those familiar formats while introducing new media and project types.
#5. Another Katie Bower Play Date: After our house crash and video visit with Katie and Jeremy at All Bower Power, you asked for more collaborations. We love teaming up with other creative homeowners and already have another meet-up on the calendar. Expect more collaborative projects, video content, and behind-the-scenes fun from those visits.
#6. Bathroom & Basement Plans: We heard many of you hoping the “big announcement” was a full bathroom or basement renovation. Those projects are on our short list: we’re developing plans and saving up to tackle both spaces. While we can’t promise finished reveals immediately, we are scheming designs and timelines and will document each step once we begin. In the meantime, we’ll share inspiration and early concepts so you can follow the process from planning through execution.
