You remember Stacie, right? She lives downtown in a beautiful home we helped decorate, and we’ve featured several rooms from her place over the years. We even “House Crashed” her house and shared the details in a previous post.
Her bedroom transformation is a great example of how a few thoughtful updates can make a big difference. The room started as a blank canvas and, with a mood board and a clear design plan, became a warm, layered retreat that reflects both personality and style.
We also helped Stacie refresh her dining room for a large gathering. The before-and-after demonstrates how strategic changes—lighting, textiles, and a few curated pieces—can elevate an everyday space into something party-ready and polished.
You might recall the gorgeous window above the French doors that leads into the kitchen, with its fan-like detailing that adds architectural interest and lets light pour into the house. Or you might remember the dramatic living room with deep, moody paint, oversized windows, and rich ruby-red curtains that frame the view and add theatrical flair.
After revisiting several of these rooms, we wanted to share the latest chapter in Stacie’s home: a breathtaking new mural painted in the entryway by her boyfriend, Jeff. The entry was a simple, functional space before the makeover—an area with potential that Jeff seized to create something truly original.
Jeff designed a custom cherry blossom branch specifically for the entry, working closely with Stacie to refine the composition. He used Photoshop to perfect the design and to mock up how it would sit on the wall, allowing them to visualize the final result before committing paint to plaster. Once they were happy with the design, Jeff projected the artwork onto the wall to trace the outline accurately and at scale.
With the outline in place, Jeff—who is a full-time artist—began painting. He employed steady, confident brushwork and left delicate cutouts and tiny details that bring depth and complexity to the mural. The branches curl up and along the stairwell, thoughtfully scaled to complement the architecture so the mural feels integrated rather than pasted on.
The final result is a stunning, custom piece that transforms the entryway into a memorable first impression. Up close, the small round buds reveal additional layers of detail: Jeff refined them during the painting stage so they read as elegant, almost star-like blossoms rather than cartoonish circles. He also left subtle white slivers on the branches to create the illusion of reflected light, which plays beautifully with the chandelier overhead.
The mural’s composition and finish demonstrate thoughtful craftsmanship—proportions that work with the stair’s rise, color choices that sit well in the home’s palette, and textures that reward both close study and a casual glance from the doorway. In person, the piece is even more striking than photographs can convey.
