Behind the doors, the file cabinet stores the practical day-to-day office items: our wireless printer, a camera bag, extra paper, and colored hanging files. The printer we use (an HP PhotoSmart C4780) fits neatly because the paper tray folds up when not in use. To route the power cord, I briefly removed the top shelf of the Effektiv—its modular construction makes that easy—and tucked the cord through the small gap in back. That keeps cords out of sight and maintains a clean interior.
Inside the drawers are the expected folders and paperwork. We replaced plain manila hanging files with a colorful assortment to make filing more pleasant and easier to scan at a glance. The colored hanging files came from Office Depot and were inexpensive in bulk; they bring a little personality to what would otherwise be a purely functional space. We also store various sizes of printer paper and supplies so printing and organizing are convenient when needed.
Overall, the cabinet feels much more finished with the new handles and organized interior. The change proves that small hardware upgrades and a few simple organizational choices can significantly improve both the aesthetics and function of an office piece like the Effektiv file cabinet.
