Holy cow, have we really been blogging for five years? It still feels a little unreal.
It seems like yesterday that we set up a simple page with a bold blue background so friends and family could follow our first home’s kitchen makeover. That tiny corner of the internet has grown into a place where we share home renovation updates, decorating experiments, everyday life moments, and lessons we learn along the way.
For our fifth blogiversary we imagined throwing a full-on parade, complete with homeowners marching by waving hammers and paint rollers. Since that proved impractical (and potentially hazardous), we opted for something safer and more fun: a week-long blogiversary celebration full of behind-the-scenes stories, giveaways, and candid posts. Over the years we’ve celebrated milestones with similar events, and this year we wanted to bring back that same mix of nostalgia and surprise while sharing even more about what goes on behind the scenes of our blog.

Seeing those dates and snapshots reminded us how much can change in a decade: moving, meeting new people, marrying, starting a blog, welcoming a baby, writing a book, and navigating the unexpected turns that come with life and creative work. Each milestone on that timeline reflects a mix of personal growth and the evolution of our blog, and several moments still bring a lump to our throat.
We never imagined that a small project carried out for fun would become such a meaningful part of our lives. This space has connected us to a community of readers who drop in day after day to follow projects, offer advice, share successes, and sometimes commiserate over setbacks. You’ve been part of every paint-splattered late night, every triumphant before-and-after, and every quiet moment of reflection. That support is what made our unexpected path possible, and we are deeply grateful.
Time truly flies when you’re having fun and staying busy. Five years ago many of us would not have guessed where we’d end up, but we’re thankful for the detours and the steady progress. We love sharing our home renovation projects, decorating experiments, and daily life with you, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone together during our blogiversary week.
