I have followed your blog for a long time and thought you might enjoy this makeover. We recently moved into a new home and, even with limited funds, we refused to settle for a drab space. After furnishing the basics—we arrived with almost nothing—we focused on refreshing our daughter’s bedroom, which desperately needed color and personality.
With a budget of just $100, I had my work cut out for me. Inspired by our tropical surroundings, and armed with glue, fabric, and paint, I set out to create an uplifting and playful room for Nadia. The results felt both inspired and inspiring.

The dresser and bedside table came from Ikea. I repainted the pieces and covered two drawer fronts and the knobs with fabric to add texture and color. I also created new lampshades for inexpensive swing-arm plug-in lamps I found online. Those small changes made the furniture feel custom and playful without a big expense.
