It’s never easy to say goodbye, but as Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton once put it: something’s gotta give.
Between parenthood, ongoing home improvement projects, and the many other responsibilities tied to running this blog, we’ve found our plates fuller than ever. Because of that, our little t-shirt and print shop will be closing its virtual doors. For the past couple of years we’ve partnered with two local printing and t-shirt companies to produce all of our Young House Love wares. We handled everything else ourselves — the design, inventory, packaging, and shipping. We could probably outsource those tasks, but at this stage it feels like one more thing to manage. We prefer to do the hands-on work when we can, but right now simplifying our workload is the right choice.
Making this decision wasn’t easy. We know that closing the shop will create space for new opportunities and free us to focus on design projects, before-and-afters, giveaways, house crashings, and writing more posts — instead of spending chunks of time standing in line at the post office or fielding order calls. Still, it’s bittersweet. We’ve assigned an inventory number to each remaining item (there are about 30 left), and once those pieces are gone, the shop will be officially sold out for good.
We want to be upfront and practical about this transition. If you’re hoping to pick up one of the remaining prints or tees, now’s the time. We’ve kept things organized so that inventory is clear and accessible while supplies last. After that, our focus will shift away from producing shop merchandise and toward creating more of the content you come here for: design tips, room updates, product recommendations, and all the behind-the-scenes glimpses that inspired us to create those original designs in the first place.
We also want to share a little about why this closure feels right for us now. Running a small shop alongside a busy home and blog has taught us a lot about priorities and creative energy. Designing, packing, labeling, and shipping orders can be incredibly rewarding, but it’s time-consuming. By streamlining our commitments, we can invest more energy into the projects and posts that directly support our community — the tutorials, the renovation reveals, and the small, useful ideas that help you make your home feel more like yours.
We’re also incredibly grateful. Your support over the past two years has meant the world to us. To everyone who bought a t-shirt, hung one of our prints on a wall, gave our designs to a friend, or simply cheered us on — a huge, heartfelt thank you. Knowing our work has found a place in your homes and wardrobes is more meaningful than words can say. It’s been a joy to see our designs become part of your everyday life.
While we close this chapter, we’re excited about what comes next. Simplifying doesn’t mean stopping — it means redirecting our energy toward the projects and stories we love most. Expect more thoughtful content, more real-life makeovers, and more practical advice to help you tackle projects big and small. And who knows — this may be the pause that leads to a new, unexpected chapter in the future.
