We’re thrilled to share that the Petersik family is growing again. That’s right — someone is going to be a big sister, and she’s incredibly excited about it.
The little bun in Sherry’s oven is due in April, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome a new baby into our home. This is a joyful time for our family as we prepare for another child and the many changes and celebrations that come with it.
(I’ve volunteered to adopt a little extra sympathy weight — it feels like the least I can do to support Sherry.)
Our dog Burger doesn’t have any idea what’s happening, but he’s always cheerful, and that energy is a comfort to all of us.
Sherry’s first trimester brought a few challenges. We had a worrying fender bender that left us momentarily anxious, and Sherry experienced significant all-day sickness rather than just morning sickness. Despite those difficult moments, we are grateful that everything so far points to a healthy pregnancy.
Because of Clara’s previous birth complications, this pregnancy is considered high-risk. That history means we are working closely with medical professionals and taking extra precautions to ensure the best possible care for both Sherry and the baby. We appreciate the support and patience of our friends and family as we navigate this high-risk pregnancy with thoughtful attention and careful planning.
We recently reached a milestone that felt safe enough to share the news more broadly, and we timed our announcement so we could celebrate with family — including Nonna, who was visiting. Being able to hug family members and show them our excitement in person made the moment even more special.
Since so many of you tend to ask curious and thoughtful questions when we share life updates, we plan to put together a follow-up post on Friday to answer your most common questions. Between preparing the house and getting ready for the new arrival, our days are busy. I’ve been tackling projects around the sunroom and other home improvements, while Sherry, despite dealing with sickness, insists on staying productive and creative — often painting or working on little nesting projects between rest periods.
