We’re turning up the nerd factor and diving into podcasting. The show is called Young House Love Has A Podcast. Take a moment to let that settle — it’s a mouthful, but it captures what we’re about: candid conversations about life, home projects, and the little moments that make a house feel like home.

We publish a new episode every Monday, and we’ve released over 50 episodes to date. If you already listen to podcasts, you can subscribe on your preferred platform to download episodes automatically and never miss a new one. If you’re new to podcasts, don’t worry — it’s simple, free, and very convenient. Below is a quick guide to get you started and a step-by-step walkthrough for using the Podcasts app on iPhone.

Getting Started with Podcasts
Think of podcasts as on-demand talk radio: audio shows you can play whenever you want. Instead of being limited to whatever’s airing live, you can queue up an episode to listen while you commute, do chores, exercise, work on a project, or relax. Episodes can be paused and resumed, so you won’t lose your place if something interrupts you.
One of the best features is offline listening. When you subscribe to a show, episodes can automatically download over Wi‑Fi so they’re ready to play later without using mobile data. That means you can listen on planes, in basements, or anywhere without service — downloaded episodes behave like local audio files.
Our preferred listening method is the Apple Podcasts app on iPhone or iPad, which usually comes preinstalled. Below are straightforward steps to subscribe and download episodes using that app. The process is very similar in other podcast apps.

To subscribe to Young House Love Has A Podcast on an iPhone using the Podcasts app:
- Step 1. Open the Podcasts app and tap the magnifying glass in the bottom-right corner to search.
- Step 2. Type “Young House Love Has A Podcast” in the search bar at the top and find our show’s cover art in the results.
- Step 3. Tap the show’s cover art to open the show page.

- Step 4. Tap the Subscribe button on the show page. Subscribing is free and ensures you’ll receive new episodes automatically.
- Step 5. Episodes may begin downloading automatically. To ensure you have specific episodes offline, tap the download icon (the cloud with a down arrow) next to each episode you want.

- Step 6. View and play downloaded episodes from the Unplayed section in the bottom-left corner. This view lists episodes you haven’t listened to yet.
- Step 7. Tap the episode you want and it will start playing. Use the playback controls to pause, skip, rewind, or change playback speed.

Once you’re subscribed, new episodes should appear automatically each Monday in your Unplayed list, already downloaded if your device is connected to Wi‑Fi. From there it’s as easy as tapping play.
If you want to explore more shows, use the Featured or Top Charts sections in the app. There are podcasts for nearly every interest: true crime, news, design, parenting, business, wellness, and more. Trying a few different shows is the best way to find the ones that fit your taste and routine.
Tip: If you prefer listening on a computer, many podcast platforms offer desktop options. Most podcast apps follow similar subscription and download steps, and the guides inside those apps will walk you through the details if needed.
That’s all you need to get started. If you’re wondering what I do on evenings when I’m not recording, the answer is: I play with the microphone and practice deepening my voice so I can sound like James Earl Jones. Welcome to the podcast — we’re glad you’re here.
