We couldn’t fit all of your questions into last week’s video, so here’s Part 2 — a follow-up where we answer more of the funny, random, and personal questions readers sent in via Twitter and Facebook before our big blogiversary celebration. You asked everything from “what was your first thought when you saw your house?” to “which household chore do you not trust the other person to do?” to “do you ever have time to work out?” and even “does Sherry wear pajamas all day now that she works from home?” This installment picks up the rest of those quirky queries that had us laughing, blushing, and generally spilling the beans while the camera rolled. - Dishwasher duty is a point of contention: I don’t trust Sherry to load it (she was surprised to hear that), and she prefers that I avoid toilets and pruning. We each have chores we avoid, and it works out mostly by default.
- Our “Petersik style” really started to emerge a few months into blogging after we simplified and refined our home’s color palette. That clarity helped shape a recognizable aesthetic across projects.
- Sherry’s passion for home decor sparked my interest as well. I’ve always liked design and creativity, but her enthusiasm made me want to jump in and flex those creative muscles more often.
- When people compliment Sherry’s look, we joke that it’s a mix of genetics, makeup, and a little Photoshop magic — but mostly she’s just naturally photogenic.
- We’re a one-car household right now and currently drive a Nissan Maxima. We daydream about swapping it for a used Honda Element (that’s my preference) or a used Nissan Rogue (the one Sherry and I both like). And yes, I managed to make Sherry think she was pregnant in one of the answers — just one of those silly moments on camera.
- Our living and dining area is the main spot for entertaining and family meals, though we don’t always follow the rules — sloppy dinners sometimes migrate to the den and threaten the couch. Burger, our chihuahua, is a frequent occupant of the living room where he likes to perch on the back of the couch and watch the world go by.
- People often ask about our sense of humor. Sherry credits her copywriting background for our pun-heavy captions, but we actually inherited a lot of our dad’s quirky humor. Big shout-outs to Tom and Ken for the weird jokes that stuck.
- For light reading we usually pick up blogs and magazines. When we do read books, Sherry tends toward pink-covered chick-lit, while I gravitate toward nerdy non-fiction. Occasionally we swap and read each other’s picks.
- Sherry’s immediate reaction when she first saw our house was “we have to have it.” My first thought was more practical: “that’s a lot of yard work.” Different priorities made for a funny first impression contrast.
- Even though Sherry works from home, she changes out of pajamas most days — about 99% of the time — though she does miss the New York days when she wore heels and dressed up for the office. For the longest time I didn’t even realize she’s only 5’2”.
- We chose a chihuahua because I wanted a cat but Sherry is allergic. Burger gives us the compact, low-maintenance side of a pet while still being dog-sized in personality, and his small stature makes him easy to travel with.
- Exercise habits differ between us. Sherry only runs if she’s being chased — formal workouts aren’t her thing — but she does take long walks with Burger and tackles those sweaty home-improvement projects. I’m the runner: I usually go for a run on my lunch breaks.
