It’s here — the day we finally get to share the finalized book tour dates straight from our publisher. We’re thrilled to be able to announce where we’ll be appearing and hope to see many of you along the way.
A few important notes before the full schedule:
1. We wish we could visit every city. If it were possible to parasail, glacier-climb, and spelunk to every corner of the globe, we would do it just to thank each one of you in person for reading and supporting our blog. Touring involves a lot of logistics, so we’re very grateful for the chance to visit the places that were scheduled — especially since this tour ended up being larger than originally planned.
2. If we’re not coming to your city, don’t be sad. We have a big giveaway planned to make up for it: one lucky winner and a friend will be flown to Richmond for the November 8th signing, among other fun experiences like meals and shopping. We’ll share details when the giveaway launches.
3. The tour may expand. More dates could be added depending on how things go. Some stops weren’t on the original itinerary — for example, our Austin date was added because pre-orders at BookPeople were so strong. If you don’t see your city listed, stay tuned; we’ll announce any updates as soon as they’re finalized.
4. What will happen with the blog while we’re on the road? We’ll be juggling travel and work, but we’re committed to keeping the blog lively. We’ve prepared extra projects to publish during the tour, and we’ve lined up several house features to share while we’re traveling. If you live in a city on the tour and have a home you’re proud of, please email photos — we may be able to feature it. We’ll also be sharing travel adventures, shopping finds, and some lighthearted video moments from events and flights, so you can feel like you’re along for the ride.
5. Clara and Burger will come on some dates. They’ll join us for parts of the tour and stay with grandparents for other segments that would be too intense. They don’t love planes, strange rooms, or missed naps, so we’re doing our best to limit the stress for them. Leaving them for a night will be hard for us — neither of us have spent a night away from Clara yet, and Burger even came on our honeymoon — but we’ll make the choices that are best for them.
6. Please support our hosts by buying event copies. The organizations and stores hosting our events — independent bookstores, West Elm, Flor, and others — appreciate it when attendees purchase a book at the event for us to sign. If you already pre-ordered a copy and want it signed, we’re happy to sign it and we’re grateful you pre-ordered. If you can, consider buying an additional copy at the event to support the host. With the holidays approaching, event copies can make great gifts or decorations while you read your pre-order at home.
The photo you might see circulating from our promo shoots is actually a “dummy copy” — a blank book wrapped with our cover design used for photography while the printed books are still being produced. We’ll be getting our first physical preview soon and are very excited.
Quick updates:
Some people worried books wouldn’t be available at early events. Good news: each event will have books available for sale and signing, including at independent stores and partners like Flor and West Elm. Also, tour stops were chosen by the hosts who invited us, so city selection reflects those invitations rather than population size. An extension to the tour is possible, so watch for additions.
Below is a detailed schedule of our confirmed tour stops. Some events require RSVP or ticket purchase — please follow the directions listed for each venue.
- CINCINNATI: Saturday, October 20, 10:00 AM – Books by the Banks Festival, Duke Energy Convention Center. Talk, meet & greet, and signing. Check the festival’s event listings for details.
- NEW YORK CITY: Thursday, November 1, 6:30 PM – FLOR, 142 Wooster Street. Book party, signing, and raffle. We’ll be unveiling and raffling an exclusive FLOR rug of our design. Expect wine, popcorn, cookies, and soda.
- WILTON, CT: Friday, November 2, 9:30 AM – Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road. Talk and signing. Contact Elm Street Books for event details and RSVP information.
- BOSTON: Wednesday, November 7, 6:00 PM – West Elm, 160 Brookline Avenue. Cookies, cocoa, and crafting ideas accompany a festive talk and signing. Refreshments will follow. RSVP with the host store if required.
- RICHMOND, VA: Thursday, November 8, 7:00 PM – R*Home for the Holidays at The Visual Arts Center of Richmond, 1812 West Main Street. Talk, signing, and a silent auction featuring some of our favorite finished projects from the book to benefit The School of Richmond Ballet. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. We’re also working on a second Richmond event; details to come.
- CHICAGO: Saturday, November 10, 1:00 PM – West Elm, 1000 W North Avenue. Cookies, cocoa, and crafting ideas, followed by a talk and signing. RSVP as directed by the host.
