I wanted to create a dining corner in my living room. Although I had finally bought a table and the chairs I wanted and tried to style the area, it still didn’t read as a dining space to me. It felt like just a table tucked into the corner of the room. Then it hit me: the space needed COLOR. I wanted the palette to coordinate with my living room, so I introduced a green that echoed my carpet.
My inspiration came from a blog post that showcased a striking stencil project. After seeing that post, I visited the original source to study the technique in detail, and learned it was inspired by yet another project. That’s one of the best parts about the blogging community—ideas travel from page to page, evolving along the way. I decided to follow suit and create my own version.
The process was time-consuming but rewarding. I cut out a stencil template and traced the pattern across the wall, which took approximately four and a half hours. My hands were definitely sore the next day. Once the tracing was done, I painted the lines, a step that consumed even more time than the tracing. Still, every minute felt worth it as the pattern began to come alive on the wall.
Now I’m absolutely, positively in love with my dining corner! The pattern and saturated color turned what was once an overlooked corner into a focal point that feels intentional and welcoming. -Ginny
