Welcome to our home in Columbia, South Carolina. We’re Jordan and Landon from landonjacob.com, and we love sharing practical, budget-friendly projects that make a house feel like home.
You’ve already seen the kitchen makeover, but here’s a quick reminder — that small, affordable renovation really transformed the heart of our home and set the tone for the rest of our spaces.
Dining Room
Our dining room is simple and personal. The wine bottles displayed along the shelf came from a favorite wedding venue where we often shoot; they were kind enough to hold them for us. To create a unique mirror, we repurposed mirrored closet doors found on Craigslist and paired them with weathered pallet wood. We turned the materials into two mirrors — one for the dining room and one for the hallway.
The dining table is an incredible thrift-store find — just $10 — and always gets compliments. The chairs and bench were picked up at a yard sale, and the ottoman came from a friend who was discarding it. Together these pieces create a lived-in, collected look without breaking the bank.
Living Room
In the living room we leaned into rustic textures. Landon built picture frames from pallet wood, and the stacked pallets theme appears throughout the house. Our ottoman was a DIY project inspired by a shared tutorial we followed — it’s cozy, practical, and a favorite spot for guests.
An old wine crate serves as a magazine holder, and vintage suitcases on legs became charming DIY end tables. We borrowed the idea of hanging baskets from a catalog to add texture to the wall beside the sofa. The doors mounted above the bookcases are original to the home, and incorporating them felt like honoring the house’s history.
Bedroom
We added beadboard wainscoting to the bedroom and created a simple gallery wall using inexpensive frames sprayed white. The mix of textures and the light palette makes this room calm and inviting.
Bathroom
Mirrors are a recurring theme in our home because they open up spaces and reflect light. In the main bathroom a large mirror brightens the room and makes it feel larger than it is, which is a great trick for smaller rooms.
Hallway
One of our favorite spots is a narrow hallway that somehow feels as significant as a full room. We thrifted and reupholstered two chairs for $40, added the second handmade mirror from the Craigslist mirrored doors, and hung a lotus-style light fixture from Ikea. It’s small but full of personality.
Office / Craft Room
The office and craft room is where creativity happens. We found an amazing craft table for $5 at a thrift shop. Music is important to our family — Landon plays and my dad was a musician — so instruments double as decor and inspiration. A blue guitar on the wall adds pops of color and feels like art.
Spare Bedroom and Bathroom
The spare bedroom features a Craigslist bed and bright orange curtains I scored at Goodwill for only about $1.50. The adjoining small bathroom was a major makeover. It was once a mess, but now it feels polished. We installed a new sink and faucet and mounted them on an antique wash stand we found. A large mirror here too helps the tiny space feel more open and airy.
