When we decided more than two years ago to number every tip in our book, we hoped one day to offer an online place where readers could share their versions of the projects by referencing the project number. That day has arrived. This page will collect reader submissions tied to specific projects, and over time it will grow into a visual archive of completed work inspired by the book. We’ll also link to it from the book’s page so it’s easy to find. If you’re looking for ideas or simply want to see how others interpreted a project, this page will eventually be full of creative examples contributed by readers.
Think of it as a never-ending, book-related challenge that anyone can join. You can upload your project at any time and return later to see what others have created. We love seeing different approaches—whether someone follows a project closely or adds a unique twist—so please share your work. Below are a few favorite reader projects to inspire you.
- Project #120: Make Paint-Chip Art — completed by Margaux and Steve, who documented their transformation of a bathroom using colorful paint-chip compositions.
- Project #179: Gold Recycled Bookends — crafted by Courtney, who turned recycled materials into elegant, gold-finished bookends that refresh a shelf without breaking the bank.
- Project #193: Sketch on a Pillow — made by Vel, who adapted the project into a personalized monogram-style pillow, using simple sketching techniques on fabric to create a custom textile accent.
- Project #147: Make Tissue Paper Art — contributed by a reader named Alise. She doesn’t maintain a blog, but she described tracing the outline of a fish onto tissue paper and cutting it out, rather than layering scallops or scales. She then adhered the shapes to canvas using Mod Podge. A single orange fish adds a striking focal point to the composition.
- Project #68: Paint a Headboard on the Wall — completed by Kenz, who painted a faux headboard directly onto a bedroom wall to create the look of custom millwork without the cost or permanence of an actual headboard.

If you don’t have a blog, you can upload photos to a free image-sharing service and link to that specific album or image (make sure your photos are set to public so everyone can view them).
To upload your project, please follow these simple steps:
- Click the blue “Add Your Link” button at the bottom of this post. You may need to scroll down if many projects have already been added.
- In the URL field, paste a direct link to the specific blog post or image page that showcases your project. Do not link only to your homepage.
- In the “name” field, enter the project number (for example: “Project #114”). Please use the project number rather than your personal name, blog name, or a different description; this helps keep submissions organized by project.
Sharing your work helps inspire other readers, shows the many possible variations of a single idea, and creates a community around the book’s projects. We’re genuinely excited to see your photos and to feature a wide range of interpretations.
