On a recent trip to HomeGoods we mentioned amid our shower curtain misadventure that the outing wasn’t a total loss. What we didn’t explain was the part that felt like finding literal fruit among the aisles: a bold pair of greeny-gold throw pillows that practically begged to join our bedding. They had that slightly metallic sheen and a subtle lattice pattern that promised just the right mix of texture and shine for a simple, mostly-white bed.

Alternatively, we might add a single unexpected pop of color — perhaps eggplant, navy, or a jewel tone — to play off the greeny-gold and help tie in artwork and accessories as the room evolves. For now, a white Paris-themed pillow sits in front as a placeholder; it keeps the composition balanced and gives us time to decide on a final accent.
Adding these throw pillows has been a simple, high-impact way to upgrade the bedding. The room had been fairly monochrome and minimal, and the extra color has given it new personality without requiring a full redecoration.
