Maybe I’m clinging to the last bits of summer, or maybe I’m dreaming about a major sunroom refresh (we haven’t touched ours since we moved in). Or perhaps it’s simply because Jenna Sue has a gift for beautiful makeovers—you might recall her entryway transformation. Whatever the reason, take a look at this bright, cheerful sunroom update. Here’s Jenna Sue’s note about the project:
Hello again! Our sunroom started out with plain white walls, dated green trim, carpet, and a sagging ceiling.
We removed the old ceiling, added insulation, and installed new humidity-resistant drywall. I painted it a soft blue and added recessed lighting and ceiling speakers. We also replaced the carpet with gray wood-look tile planks, which immediately made the room feel cleaner and more modern.
To make the space more welcoming for guests, we brought in a couple of Brimnes daybeds from Ikea so we can host overnight visitors comfortably.
I built a simple, rustic coffee table and a matching console for storage and display.
After that, I layered in accessories and plenty of pillows, made a no-sew slipcover for an old armchair, hung artwork, and arranged everything so the room feels open, airy, and perfect for summer gatherings.

I’m obsessed with the gray wood-look tile that anchors the room and gives it a contemporary feel, and I can’t get over that black cat who lounges in the sunlight—he reminded me of my parents’ cat and added instant personality to the space.
This sunroom is a great example of how modest updates—new drywall, fresh paint, focused lighting, a swap to hard flooring, and a few well-chosen furnishings—can completely change how a room feels and functions. It’s practical for everyday life, welcoming for guests, and cheerful enough to make you want to linger with a book or host a summer party.
